Emily Lardner, originally from Saint John,New Brunswick, is currently living in Sarnia, ON. Emily holds a BFA from Mount Allison University where she focused primarily in painting, drawing and printmaking. Emily’s work deals with daily life- the everyday lived experience. A consistent theme in Emily’s work is our social reality; the relationships that we build with each other, as well as the significance physical place can hold. Drawing inspiration from her personal lived experience and using imagery of candid everyday moments - working primarily from family/friends photographs. Emily plays with perception/perspective in her paintings and often uses bold outlines flattening the image as well as leaving areas unfinished, contrasting against more finished and defined areas. She is interested in that push and pull; just as with memory there are some things we remember more clearly and other details that fade away.
